The Day Of Your Surgery

SURGERY DAY CHECKLIST:

EAT A GOOD MEAL WITHIN ONE HOUR OF CHECK-IN
The sedation medications may upset an empty stomach.

NO CAFFEINE 4 HOURS BEFORE CHECK-IN
Caffeine can make you jittery during the procedure and make it difficult to rest afterward.

DRINK WATER
Maintaining hydration will minimize sensitivity to pain and will make you more comfortable

NO EYE MAKEUP, PERFUME, COLOGNE, OR AFTERSHAVE, but deodorant is okay.

CONTACT LENSES
No contacts for 7 full days and NO hard/RGP contacts for 4 full weeks before surgery.

HYDRATE YOUR EYES STARTING 4 DAYS PRIOR TO SURGERY.  1-2 DROPS EVERY 2 HOURS
The artificial tears MUST be preservative free, single use disposable vials. NO BOTTLES!

• The mosy common acceptable tears for surgery are:
• Blink single use disposable vials
• Optive single use disposable vials
• Thera Tears single use disposable vials
• Systanc Free single use disposable vials
• Refresh Plus single use disposable vials

FILL YOUR ANTIBIOTIC EYE DROP PRESCRIPTION & BRING IT WITH YOU TO SURGERY
In many cases, your insurance will cover these drops. You can expect to pay between $75 - $l00, use NO generic medications!  For a list of medication required, click here.

BRING A DRIVER
After surgery you will be groggy and your eyes will be watery. Your vision will be blurred for several hours and even into the next day. Whomever you bring with you will be welcome to observe your surgery if they wish.  If your driver is going to drop you off and pick you up later, please have them come in with you to get an idea of your pick up time.

CELL PHONES WILL BE COLLECTED AT THE FRONT DESK ON THE DAY OF YOUR SURGERY!
Please feel free to bring your cell phone, but out of courtesy to others we ask that you silence it.  If you need to make or take a call we ask that you step outside the office.  ALL cell phones will be collected before surgery. Even when they are off they can interfere with the lasers, thank you for your consideration of others.

PAYMENT is due on the day of surgery. We accept cash, check, and all major credit cards. We also offer very affordable financing through U.S. Bank and Care Credit with up to 24 months no interest. You must have financing arrangements made before the day of surgery

EXPECT TO BE WITH US FOR ABOUT 1-2 HOURS
During you visit, there will be periods of activity (paperwork, resting, instructions, and meeting with your doctor) and periods of waiting in between those activities. Please feel free to bring a book, etc. We greatly appreciate your patience in helping us keep our surgery schedule running smoothly and on time.  The surgery suite is quite cool, so please dress to ensure you comfort.
