iLASIK

iLASIKThe VISX STAR S4 IR Eximer laser incorporates features which are key to providing detailed and precise results. Offering features such as Variable Repetitive Rate (VRR) and Variable Spot Scanning (VSS), this laser is designed for Wavefront Guided Laser vision correction. It utilizes a non-contact method for aligning the procedure, delivering absolutely accurate alignment. This customized treatment is produced by the VISX STAR S4 IR, which has the ability to measure each unique imperfection of the eye.

The Intralase FS laser is a femtosecond laser completely controlled by a computer and utilizes bladeless technology to create the corneal flap required to complete the iLASIK procedure. The computer controlled system has the ability to customize the corneal flap based on pupil position and corneal thickness. In addition to this complete customization, the flap thickness will be completely uniform and smooth. This advanced laser helps to provide a procedure with outstanding vision quality, few visual disturbances, like glare and haze, and provides minimal risk of corneal abrasion and incomplete flaps.

Monovision

Many patients, who opt to undergo LASIK surgery, do so at a young age and experience tremendously successful results. As the body ages, and patients begin to reach their early to mid-forties, the effects of Presbyopia will begin to set in. Patients who underwent traditional LASIK surgery often eventually experience the need to use reading glasses to see things up close such as the newspaper, pill bottles or the computer screen. In recent LASIK developments, patients are now given the option to opt for Monovision LASIK, a treatment that adjusts one eye to see far away and one eye to see up close. Incorporating the information, the brain is able to provide a full range of vision through harmonizing the images.

If you underwent traditional LASIK surgery and are now beginning to feel the effects of Presbyopia, or are thinking about LASIK and currently utilize readers on a regular basis, you may be a candidate for Monovision correction. For more information and to schedule your initial risk free consultation today, call Rocky Mountain Ophthalmology and we’ll work with you to deliver the results you seek.

PRELEX

If you find yourself constantly searching the house or your office for another missing pair of reading glasses just so you can read something on your computer screen or quickly scan the newspaper, you may be a candidate for the PRELEX procedure. Utilizing a multifocal intraocular lens (IOL), this procedure creates a new visual structure inside the eye to see both near and far. The new lens will mimic the vision you had before you fell dependent on reading glasses and essentially give you the vision of your childhood.

This procedure takes just a few minutes and is performed on a outpatient basis, allowing you to resume normal activities within just a couple of days. The natural lens of the eye is removed through a tiny incision and is replaced with an intraocular lens. The incision is so small; it heals on it own and requires no sutures. This procedure is an incredible option for those who want to eliminate their dependency on reading glasses, are near or far sighted or may have early signs of cataract development.

If you think you may be a candidate for PRELEX, call Rocky Mountain Ophthalmology today and we will work with you to determine the vision correction procedure that will best fit your needs. Schedule your initial consultation today!

ICL’s

If you have previously not been a candidate for LASIK because you suffer from severe nearsightedness, recently developed technology is paving the way for patients with moderate to severe nearsightedness or thin corneas. A phakic IOL (PIOL) is an artificial lens that that is implanted into the eye while leaving the natural lens in place. Performed on an outpatient basis, the procedure can take anywhere from 15-30 minutes and requires just local anesthesia. The surgeon creates an incision in the eye, inserts the lens and uses sutures to close the incision. On average, most patients are able to return to normal activity within a couple of days and achieve their best vision after healing is complete, in approximately six weeks.
