Acrysof Aspheric Toric IOL – Single Focus Lens With Astigmatism Correction

Astigmatism is an eye condition that causes blurred or double vision due to an irregularity shape of the cornea.  The cornea is the outer part of the eye where light first passes through before entering the lens. In people with astigmatism, their corneas are shaped more like a football than a basketball, and this irregularity prevents the light rays from focusing on the retina and blurring of the image occurs.

Astigmatism requires a specific type of corrective lens to view things clearly.  In the past, cataract surgery could not eliminate higher levels of astigmatism that was present prior to the procedure.  Glasses were always necessary after surgery for patients with astigmatism.

Fortunately, this is no longer the case.  We now have new implantable intraocular lens technology that can permanently correct astigmatism called the Acrysof Toric IOL. These lenses are designed with a specific shape that counterbalances the corneal irregularity that leads to the astigmatism in the first place.  Thanks to its unique design, the Acrysof Toric lens refocuses these light rays together as they pass through the lens.  The result is a permanent correction of your astigmatism and restoration of your distance vision without glasses.

This lens is a wonderful option for anyone over 40 who suffers from astigmatism.  Schedule a  lens evaluation to learn more about the amazing premium IOLtechnology offered by. Dr, Kevin H. Cuevas and Rocky Mountain Ophthalmology which could leave you completely free from glasses!
